I don't want to go back to a 9 to 5 job! I have 2 kids and I would rather be home with them as much as possible right now. Finances are tight, so I'm doing all I can to add to the family income and still raise my kids right!
Oh... the kids are Ashwyn (5 1/2 yrs) and Mika (16 months). The husband is Mano (he works very hard at making the world a better place www.idrc.ca)
We live in Ottawa, Canada.
My grandmother was a seamstress and my mom was a good sewer as well.
This past summer I received a gift of 3 quilts that my grandmother made for me when I was a baby. I really enjoy making baby blankets too and they remind me of a time when all moms could make things for their kids.
I know most people either don't have the time anymore or can't imagine learning a new craft like sewing. So - I present my wares for you to pass on to the little ones in your life and hope that you feel the thoughtfulness and effort that has gone into making something by hand.
How do I get one of these knuffel/cuddly blankets?
You can email me at knuffelkids@hotmail.com or call me at home (613-747-6871) to ask any questions you may have.
I look forward to working with you. Karen
FAQ
How big are the blankets? about 1 metre square
What are they made of? 100% undyed cotton flannel and 100% cotton printed fabric
Can you make one from fabric I already have? Sure - we would have to work out the details like delivery of fabric to me, etc.
How quickly can I have one? I would like to give myself 2 -3 days to finish one (I do have 2 kids you know) but in a pinch, I could lube up my joints and thimble all of my fingers to get it done super quickly.
How do I launder them? I have prewashed all of the fabric in eco-friendly soap and tumble dried them so that there will be little, if any, shrinkage (because nobody likes shrinkage...)
Can you ship? I will ship a blanket anywhere. This is something that I will have to work out costwise on a blanket by distance basis - so just ask and I'll work it out.
How much are they? Ah... the money question... I have decided on a price that will allow me to be payed as well as pay for the fabric. $50 for a blanket with the handstitched edging (see photos) or $40 for one that has been machine stitched.
How can I pay for them? If you live in Ottawa, we can exchange goods and payment personally. If you live afar, we can work something out (i.e. money order, cheque, paypal, etc.)
